A bittersweet dessert and perfect end of our organic “Farmy” – menu
This dessert was a big, positive surprise! My challenge was to find a dairy-free menu (if you haven’t noticed yet, the whole Farmy menu was dairy free, so milk-intolerant people out there: this is a menu for you!), while also picking a product from Farmy.ch. Somewhere during my research process in the world-wide web, I found this gratinated grapefruit recipe and I was curious. While last summer, our favourite dessert were grilled pineapple with chili, salt and sugar , I thought: Why not trying grapefruit “au gratin”?
- 2 grapefruits
- 1 bunch of fresh mint
- 6-8 tbsp of brown sugar
- Mince the sugar and the mint
- Cut the grapefruits in halves and carefully cut along the white skin, so you can eat the pieces with a small spoon afterwards
- Spread the mint-sugar mix on top of the grapefruit
- Bake in the oven with the grill function for 10-15 minutes, until the sugar has melted.
The caramelized sugar mixes with the grapefruit juice and the outcome is a bittersweet syrup. The fresh mint adds the wow-factor! There is not much more to be said, except that you should really try it once. It’s simple and quick, but also original. By the way, the grapefruits came from an Sicilian farmer, who exclusively grows organic citrus fruits.
